GEOLOGY
Labradorite is a sodium-calcium crystal which forms in big chunks of igneous rocks, mainly gabbro – one of the most abundant rocks in oceanic crust. Known for its captivating hues of green, blue and yellow, the iris-effect you can observe on Labradorite forms as a result of complex light refraction on the thin layer of the mineral – which are best admired in polished pieces.
