GEOLOGY
Amethyst is a violet-tinted variety of Clear Quartz, which inherits its hues due to ionising radiation. Mostly found in basalt rocks, Amethyst crystal is often found as a geode but can also form in a pseudohexagonal shape – or, as seen above, in v-shaped layers. Prasiolite is a green variety of Amethyst, which results due to heating, either natural or artificial.
